There's a couple of brief but interesting news items to report today.
Firstly, Ezequiel has been sent to Segunda side Sabadell on loan for the rest of the season. The idea is to give the 21-year-old winger more time on the pitch, with the Catalan club even signing a clause committing them to playing him as much as possible.
It's still a bit of a mystery why Ezequiel has fallen so far out of favour with Pepe Mel. He was rumoured to have come back out of shape from a summer tournament with the Spain Under-20 side, but that seems a long time ago now and it's not as if his replacement on the left wing, Jefferson Montero, has been an unqualified success. At least now Ezequiel has the chance to show what he can do - even though it might mean I lose a certain Swedish reader for the next six months.
And in related news, central defender Juan Calahorro is almost certain to join a whole host of other ex-Béticos on loan at Xerez for the rest of the season. The 23-year-old has been very unlucky to fall down the crack between the first team and Betis B this year, and since the summer has done nothing but train. Good luck to him.

"even though it might mean I lose a certain Swedish reader for the next six months." Pretty sure it was me you ment. Well, i am a huge fan of Ezequiel but i'm also a huge fan of Real Betis and this blog, so of course i will keep reading this Adam.
About Ezequiel on loan to the Segunda club Sabadell... i think it's good for both Betis, Sabadell and Ezequiel himself. Ezequiel have been in some controversial situations with Mel and the club this season, that's why Mel hasn't given Ezequiel the chance really. So i'm really glad he joined Sabadell on a loan. I will follow Ezequiel so much i can and i will probably also make some match-comps of his performance in his new club.
Last but not least... Good luck Ezequiel, i belive in you!

Hi Linus - of course I meant you! (jokingly...)
I agree with you - it's exactly what he needs. There are plenty of footballers for whom a loan spell at a smaller club helped make their careers - I remember reading about how a couple of months at Preston did wonders for a 20-year-old David Beckham, for instance - and Ezequiel has got easily enough talent to bounce back for Betis. Do keep us in touch with his progress.

Haha yeah, that's what i thought.
True that, true that. I actually belive he has enough talent to be one of our best players in the future. As a winger, he has the "little extra" to become really good player. He just need some time because he's still young and doesn't have much experience. And for the moment he has to work on his passing abilty and his strenght. Also think he needs to become more "dangerous" when it comes to attack. I mean, he doesn't score much goal and he doesn't make much assists. For now, he's more of a hard working pacy winger. And we already have wingers like, Montero, Pereira, Junama and Pozuelo. Plus Vadillo when he is fit. Castro and Salva can also play on the wing pos if it needs, so at the moment we don't need Ezequiel.

If he can learn to play a killer ball when he gets towards the box, he'll become unstoppable. More time on the field is just what the doctor ordered.
