Earlier this week, according to one paper, Jorge Molina was sitting on his sofa at home watching television when a report came on saying that he'd just signed for Celtic. "I have?" he thought. "When exactly?"
It's a silly story, but it illustrates the kind of feverish rumour-mongering that goes on in the days before the closure of the winter transfer window. The deadline passed at midnight yesterday, and the final balance for Betis is one in (Paulao), four out - Tosic (back to Red Star Belgrade), Ezequiel and Calahorro (on loan to Sabadell and Xerez, respectively), and Momo (on a free transfer to his home-town club Las Palmas).
The latter's 18 months in verdiblanco can only be considered a disappointment. Touted as a winger who could also get goals, he made only 13 league starts, was rarely a real offensive threat and didn't score once. Perhaps the most one-sided player I've seen at Betis, he wasn't just uncomfortable using his right foot but seemed to have a pathological dread of doing so, which obviously reduced his impact. Her certainly never looked like the player who scored an extraordinary 17 goals from midfield for Xerez in 2008/09, so it was probably best for all parties that he was allowed to move on.

Greetings from Honduras. EVERYONE here is a Barcelona fan, which is somewhat ridiculous. I´ve been promting our club...little surprise many of the aficionados down here don´t even know Betis is a club in La Liga. I have a lot of convincing to do.

You do get around, Kent. Good luck with the verdiblanco evangelising!
