Some of the guys I met up with on Sunday were telling me they enjoy the "Songs You Might Hear At the Villamarín" series I've just started, so, by special request, here is the next instalment (the first two can be found here and here).
I'm not sure whether this chant has a name - and to be honest, it barely has a tune - but it's one that the whole stadium joins in for, so it's definitely worth featuring.
The words are:
De pequeño te empecé a seguir
Poco a poco me enamoré de tí
Cuando juegues siempre estaré a tu lado
No me falles Real Betis
Yo nunca te he fallado
Lo, lo, lo, lo etc
...which roughly translates as:
From when I was young, I started to follow you,
Little by little I fell in love with you,
Whenever you play I'll always be at your side
Don't let me down, Real Betis,
I've never let you down...
OK, in pairs, identify the following: a) one present subjunctive, b) one future tense, c) two examples of the past simple.... (Just a little language teachers' joke there.)
This is what it sounds like in action. I always think that half the stadium must end up with indigestion from all the syllables that get swallowed.
Brilliant Adam... love these... I can go about my day with Betis tunes in my head "manque pierda"
